We have very old pine kitchen cabinets which are in perfectly good condition but a bit dated so we were looking to paint them to make them a bit more up to date but dont really know where to start I know that they need sanding down before we can do anything but what else do we need to do?

Has anyone painted their oak kitchen cabinets white?
A lot of people are against this, but it is something I am choosing to do for my own personal preferences. I can't afford to replace the doors, so my husband and I are sanding them down, priming, and painting. We currently have all the old finish completely sanded off, so now it is just pure unfinished oak wood. We will be applying a grain filler to help reduce the grain, though I am aware some grain patterns will still show through, and I am aware and alright with that. The main question I have is, what kind of paint primer did you go with? Was it oil water latex etc...? I'm not worried about the smell or dry time, the things that concern me are Are you happy with the results? Have you had any issues with the type you chose? What do you know about the wear tear of each water, oil, latex, etc... ? Has anyone that used oil noticed yellowing? What is the easiest to clean? What promises the long term wear and keeps up on shine and color?I'm going for the glossy, pure white, easy to clean, less likely to chip or yellow, etc...Any advice based on experience and knowledge that can be given would be greatly appreciated Thank you so much for taking the time to respond ahead of time

Repainting kitchen cabinets?
I have already painted my white cabinets before but the paint chips, gets dirty, fades from me cleaning them and now I wish I could replace them but it's not in the budget. Instead, I'd like to repaint them one more time to by a little more time and wondered if there's something else I can do to help keep them in better condition. Should I apply a clear coat over the paint?

I've read reviews on a few but want to make sure I'm making the right decision. The Wagner control max HVLP has alot of good reviews, also the Graco Magnum X5 and the Fuji Mini Mite. Wagner's more affordable, Fuji a bit pricey, Graco seems like the best choice but not sure if it'll do for kitchen cabinets
